Elena speaks a lot of languages because she’s a chronic communicator.

Her studies have taken her to Italy, Germany, and Spain and she has lived in,  and travelled to many different cities. But from the moment she landed in Barcelona, she was in love with this crazy city. A love that still endures.

Since childhood, she’s explored artistic languages like dancing, singing, and theatre. As an adult she decided to channel her creative impulses by organizing events and communication strategies. She’s collaborated with different festivals, communication agencies, and culture associations and is the founder of PicSharing.

She also dedicates her time to documental photography and in 2012 put together a photographic project and event cycle entitled “Les transformacions del Poble Nou” (The transformations of Poble Nou)
She loves Polaroids, Asian movies and Nutella.

With over 20 million view in just its Catalan version, Wikipedia is one of the 5 most visited websites in the world. This makes it an exceptional promotional tool and an extraordinary platform for a centre such as the DHUB. By releasing texts from their website, a number of photographs of pieces from their collection, and through extensive documentation work, the DHUB has positioned itself as a pioneer in the content of Catalan and Spanish design on the internet – something that has been relatively unexplored on Wikipedia until now.

In collaboration with the magazine lamono, we’ve begun an audiovisual series with this mini-documentary “Fly your own flag by New Era”. It’s the first video in a series that profiles alternative culture icons chosen by the magazine that specializes in art and trends, lamono.

La Mercè is the most popular festival in Barcelona and for this reason we wanted to invite users to show their particular vision of the festival using the hashtag #instamercè. Labelling the photographs with this hashtag, the images appeared not only in the virtual web gallery of the Mercè festival but also were projected in real time on screens throughout the city (the Ciutadella Park, Virreina Palace, etc.) The action resulted in almost 3,000 #instamercè photos.

The event included the participation of the Instagram collective FreaksBcn, who helped to give photographic coverage of the biggest events and shows at the Mercè festival 2012.

Montreal, guest city of the Mercè celebration in 2012, presented the show  “Montréal Signe l’Ode à la Vie” at the hands of Canadian company Moment Factory. An hommage to the genius of Gaudí in the form of a multimedia show that lit up the Sagrada Familia from the 21st to the 23rd of September.

From ex-labs, and with the collaboration of El Giragrama Kronoscópico, we broadcast the videomapping on Youtube, achieving a wider national audience as well as international.

Last Sunday July 8th, dj James Holden, Fairmont and Paul Loraine, were the djs that opened the first edition of the Piknic Electronik. For the second edition, the Piknic joined the concerts of Montjuïc de Nit for a special nighttime event for an adult public with djs Andre Buljat, Pablo Bolivar and Puente Rosch. The next day Piknic was back offering families a edition of great music with djs DeadBeat, Dj Koze, Ernesto Ferreyra, Ezlv and Nerone.

Next Sunday will be the fourth edition before we shut down for summer vacation and djs Dave Aju, DJ Sneak, Frivolous and Tres Manos will join us on a day that includes collaborations with Walking Gallery and Freakbcn.

In September w’ll be back with three more sessions: on the 9th with Masomenos, Sapphire, Timid Boy, Vicent Abbo and DOP; on the 16th with Nerone, Nôze and Smash TV; and we close with a special free edition on the 23rd for the Mercè festival.

But Piknic Electronik doesn’t just happen on Sundays for ex-labs, we’ve been working on it for a long time- take a look at our promotional video:

Saturday, May 12th ex-labs celebrated on of its Project Labs,”Walking Gallery around the world”, an iniciative that aims to take art to the streets and generate interaction between the urban landscape and artists in cities around the world.

The celebration took place at Fàbrica Moritz, where artists presented speeches and projections after taking a walk around the downtown. ex-labs took part by organizing and promoting the event, as well as sharing a few beers with participants at Moritz.

We look forward to celebrating many more years together!

One of Montreal’s favourite summer events, the Piknic Electronik is a positive, fun and family-friendly event that lets you enjoy the summer surrounded by nature and music and good people. For more information about this amazing event, you check out Piknic Electronik Barcelona’s website.

This got users involved in interviewing writers such as, Paco Camarasa, Carlos Zanón and Petros Màrkaris at #entrevista140; they could also follow and add their own comments at hashtag #bcnegra12 on Twitter and Instagram; and they were also able to find the BCNegra event using a list on Foursquare.

In less than 3 days, we received 760 photographs. The 3 winners were chosen by a jury made up of a member of ICUB (the Cultural Institute of Barcelona), a representative fromMoritz Beer (who collaborated in the event and provided the prizes) and the instagram collective FreaksBCN.

The prizes (a Brompton bike,  Munich running shoes and dinner for two) were presented at the closing party at the Fàbrica Moritz.

At ex-labs we wanted to celebrate the holidays and we decided to do it in the most fun and traditional way: gift-giving.

We got to work, preparing, filling, and wrapping 200 packages. Then, one Sunday morning we took to the streets and plazas close to our offices in Gracia and randomly placed the gifts where passersby could pick them up. We then secretly filmed the reactions of people and, as you will see in the video, the reactions were really positive.

Each box contained a lollipop and a card with phrases that included “This Christmas will be your best ever”, “Smile. You’re certain to make someone happy this Christmas” and “Hug the person standing closest to you”. There was also a link to the website www.regalanadal.com where we posted the video that we made of the action.

We were delighted that many of the recipients of our gifts visited the site to leave comments and to thank us for the experience.

We also used this video as a way to wish our Clients Happy Holidays.

Desde siempre he sido un amante de las letras, escribir ha sido siempre una de mis grandes pasiones y una necesidad, es por eso que no salgo a la calle sin bolígrafo y libreta encima, tengo muchas, hasta podría decir que colecciono, me gusta tener algunas de recambio.

La historia, la pintura y la música, además de otras disciplinas artísticas, son otras de mis grandes pasiones, desde pequeño he mamado cultura, la encuentro esencial para conocer nuestro pasado y entender nuestro futuro, es por eso que me gusta escribir y dar a conocer la cultura.

Soy un culo inquieto, siempre tengo proyectos en mente, me gusta opinar de lo que pasa al mundo desde un punto de vista diferente y a veces políticamente incorrecto.

Formado entre la arquitectura y la ingeniería, pronto descubrió que tenía una vinculación con la pintura, y tanto ha sido así que la ha incluido de forma constante en su vida y profesión.

Desde el año 2006 ha ido desarrollando su labor artística en Barcelona exponiendo en varias Galerías de arte de la ciudad y fuera de ella. En 2009 realizó “You Can” en Kursaal de San Sebastián.

En 2011 realiza, en colaboración con SWAB ART FAIR de Barcelona, dos instalaciones interiores con el proyecto “PIXZLE” y otra instalación para CARAB de Barcelona Cultura dentro de Sónar 2011, también bajo el mismo proyecto.

En la actualidad está llevando a cabo el proyecto “I’m a Selfshooter” junto con el fotógrafo Edgar Vidal, en el que busca la complicidad erótica entre la mujer y su reflejo, basándose en su autorretrato con cámara fotográfica digital.
